My name is Keith. I smile a lot. I laugh a lot. I'm self motivated. I have a strong work ethic. I'm told I'm easy to work with.
I got started shooting weddings simply because I had too many friends with bad wedding videos, and when one of my best friends was getting married I decided to film it for him. That video opened up opportunities for many more weddings, and I've captured over 300 weddings since 2011. My favorite thing about video is capturing organic, timeless moments, and nothing is more timeless than weddings.
My story: I was born and raised in Hawaii, but I can hardly get the sentence out before people ask me why I left. Hawaii is a very expensive place to live, and even though my Hawaii friends think I'm crazy I actually like living near the wave starved Atlantic Ocean. It was a great experience getting to grow up on an island, and a big part of how I fell in love with videography was because my friends and I would take turns filming each other surfing. I took photography for a few years in high school and enjoyed developing film by hand in the solitude of the dark room. The process of extracting magic from moments in time continues to change, but the capturing of such moments is fundamentally the same.
After high school I moved about 5,000 miles east to Vero Beach, Florida. I went to community college, and later earned a Marketing degree from the University of Central Florida. Following college I spent five years managing events and promotions for a chain of retail stores, and all the while I used my little free time to take on various video projects for fun. It was then that I first encountered the fear/excitement of spending a few thousand dollars on a camera.
In 2010, I was given the opportunity to go to the middle east (Abu Dhabi & Dubai) to shoot a documentary, but it meant that I would have to give up my career, health insurance, paid vacation, apartment, and all my financial security. I knew that I might never get another chance to visit that part of the world, and I had to follow my passion. Leaving my corporate job was one of the most difficult decisions of my life, but when I look back on the last decade it's easy to see it was the right choice.
I live a pretty active lifestyle when I'm not at the computer editing for countless hours. I surf, mountain bike, dirt bike, hike, rock climb, and occasionally train in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. My camera has taken me on international mission trips to El Salvador, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Ghana, and Haiti. I spent four summers volunteering with a church in the inner city of Philadelphia from 2017-2020, and since 2020 I’ve volunteered at a summer youth camp in rural Virginia from May to August.
My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast; I will sing and make music. Awake, my soul!
